ABOUT FLIGHTY

Alberta Straub is your ticket to 1st class culinary mixology…

Dubbed the “Alice Waters of Booze,” by the SF Weekly, cocktail maven Alberta Straub has been in the forefront of San Francisco’s emerging culinary cocktail scene. Like her namesake, she is known for her commitment to fresh ingredients, classic preparation techniques, and innovative original recipes, and also for her passion for Jet Age style and culture, and quirky “Flighty Hostess” persona.

As Bar Manager of the Orbit Room (1900 Market St.) in San Francisco for almost 10 years, Alberta’s drink menu maintained a consistent spot at the top of annual “Bay Area’s Best” lists, and she herself was named “Best Bartender” by both the SF Weekly, and SF Magazine in 2004.  Alberta and her drinks have been Profiled in publications such as 7×7, S.F. Magazine, Chow, the SF Chronicle, the SF Weekly, SFist, NPR, CNN, Imbibe, Gourmet, and Esquire, she was featured on the Fine Living Network’s “Great Cocktails” series and then in 2007 was asked to host her own mixology podcast, “Cocktails on the Fly” produced for OnNetworks a growing on-demand media company with a full array of top rated shows.  The show was a hit for both content and production; when it made its debut on the world wide web and on itunes only a few other drinks enthusiasts had tacked the subject.  “Cocktails on the Fly” was notably the first mixology filmed with a full crew and 3 HD cameras, and was named “Best New Podcast of 2007” by Itunes.

She’s been called a cocktail innovator, an aperitif artist and a mixologist. And with good reason. Alberta Straub (a.k.a Miss Flighty); is known for turning fresh homemade ingredients into wildly sexy, exuberant drinks. Join her every week to learn a new drink, trick, or tip that will be sure to impress people when you get behind the bar, whether it be for a romantic evening in, a dinner party or to liven up a happy hour with friends. Cheers!
